Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Brady, Founder of Kim Brady Business Coaching, located in Laguna Niguel, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a business/life coach and an athlete transition coach. I help people bet on themselves to start something new and invest in themselves to design the life of their dreams. I specialize in helping retiring athletes step out of their sport and into their next chapter. Over 70% of my clients are former athletes, but you don't have to be one to work with me.

Tell us about yourself

I have had multiple career chapters in my life. I started out as an athlete and then became a therapist after I retired from my sport. Adaptability and the willingness to try new things have allowed me to become a salesperson and entrepreneur. I know what it's like to start over and begin anew, whether that was by my choice or not. I know how hard it is to build something, and we all need coaches and mentors in our lives. So I love using my athletic and therapeutic background to help others accomplish their goals in life, business, and sport.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started, scaled, and sold my first company over the course of 10 years and have been able to build another business through my coaching. The biggest accomplishment is very few people get to say that, as only 17% of business owners who start their business actually succeed long enough to sell it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Feeling misunderstood. A lot of people don't understand what it takes emotionally and financially to have an entire company on your shoulders, especially if you have employees. You are responsible for every single decision. Many people refuse that responsibility.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Belief in yourself that you will do whatever it takes to succeed.
  2. Surround yourself with other business owners and learn from them.
  3. Hire Business Coaches. I hired 3 for my first business to help me in the start-up, growth and selling phases. It's why I practice what I preach as a Business Coach now. I have done what I ask my clients to do. Some business and life coaches have not owned a business aside from their consultancy practice, and it helps that I have done both.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It is always free to do an initial consultation. Don't be afraid to ask for help! No one succeeds in the game of life or business without coaching and support. Reach out to discuss if services are right for you!
