What's your business, and who are your customers?

Ken's Insurance Agency is a full-service insurance brokerage firm. It is growing to be a national firm. We help people to solve problems through insurance and the products of our other two companies. We focus on the solution, not the sale, and focus on education, customer service, and relationships whether than sales. We can help schools, individuals, seniors, business owners, governments, not-for-profit, and even those in the medical industry. The size of the company does not even become an issue for us, even unions are loved. Your needs are the focus of our agents. We also love to support local businesses and help them grow.

Tell us about yourself

I got into the insurance industry because I was looking for a way to make money. For many years, I have been doing and still doing things I did not enjoy and found no success. I, at times, made some really good money but did not enjoy what I did. I still work in insurance but not for this reason. Now I work in insurance because I get to help people, and in doing so, I have found great joy, success, and satisfaction.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Finding something I love doing and developing the system, I have to do what I do and be seen differently.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being seen as a scam when people find out that to do what I do, they must invest in themselves, must work hard, and must be trainable.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow the path to starting the business even if it seems backward and invest in yourself and your business but do not try to be too big too fast.
  2. Be driven and have a support system to drive you to success, and do not be afraid to cut out the distractions.
  3. Finally, You will have lovers and haters. The haters will talk bad about you and stab you in the back any chance they get, and the lovers will refer you and strengthen you. Your best lover would hopefully be your spouse, who would want to know your goals, and if you try to come home and have not met them, will kick you out of the house and tell you not to come home till you met the goal you set for the day.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Remember that you will fail if you do not move in the logical procession, invest properly, and allow the growth to happen naturally. Remember also, referrals are your best friend, and most reading reviews on Google and BBB and such can tell a good review from a bad and a hater from the truth, and your haters bring you more success than your lovers in reality. Gain the right mindset, and the rest will fall into place.
