What's your business, and who are your customers?

I assist dealers in the office equipment industry in increasing their profitability by offering training to the service manager on essential management skills, customer service techniques, and employee development strategies.

Tell us about yourself

For almost 20 years, I supported service departments as a manufacturer's representative. I saw all too often how dealers would take their best technicians, promote them to a management position, and then fail to provide the training they needed to succeed. When I retired, I took the opportunity to develop a curriculum that covered the skills they needed to move from fixing equipment to fixing employees and customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have helped scores of service managers to level up their skills and become more successful in their roles.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being willing to stay the course when success doesn't come as fast as you would like.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  2. Know your niche - who is your ideal client?
  3. Make sure you are solving a problem that needs solving.
