Radical Self-Love - Kelsey Aida
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelsey Aida, an Author & Transformation Facilitator based in Rock Hill, SC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business helps people to manifest their dream life and love themselves through the process. I’m a transformation facilitator, and bestselling author who hosts international retreats offers online courses, publishes a weekly podcast (High Vibin’ It), and works with clients one-on-one. My customers are usually women who are into personal development and spirituality. They come to me to heal, uplevel, and manifest their most aligned life!
Tell us about yourself
I’m super passionate about helping people design and live out their best lives because life is short and quality of life is everything! After healing from a three-year-long battle with depression, I really wanted to share the spiritual and psychological tools that helped me the most, so I decided to become a personal development author! I went on to self-publish my first book (#ActuallyICan: The Art of Affirming Yourself to Greatness), and eventually, my passionate side hustle blossomed into a full-blown business. I’ve now had three books published by Simon and Schuster, just self-published The Mini-Book of Self-Love for the Modern Woman and I am currently working on my best book yet and actively searching for a booking agent!
Besides being a writer, I’m always excited to work directly with individuals who can benefit from my unique gifts of insight, compassion, clarity, and counsel. My women’s retreats are a very sacred (and fun!) part of my business, and my podcast brings me lots of weekly joy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
This is not a very glamorous answer, but the truth is I’m most proud of myself for committing wholeheartedly to this work and never giving up on my business. I feel very called to do this work and to help people in the ways that I can, and that keeps me going.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about running a small business is feeling overwhelmed by having to wear so many hats. Many days I would rather just focus on writing or teaching, but business duties call!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You don’t have to quit your day job and jump all in. Sometimes the most self-loving and supportive thing you can do is make the transition slowly and naturally. When you’re stressed about money, there is too much pressure to make your business work, and that can often be counterproductive.
- Know that if you have the desire to start this business, your potential customers have the desire to use your goods or services! This is bigger than just you. Good businesses make an impact.
- When you feel like giving up, take a little break and then get creative. Try a new offer, market yourself in a different way, and hire a better team. Just because it may seem at times like it’s “not working,” that doesn’t mean that it can’t, or won’t, work in time.
