Liquid Soul Yoga & Massage - Kelly Sues

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelly Sues, Founder of Liquid Soul Yoga & Massage LLC., located in Valrico, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is an independent massage studio that offers a variety of healing services, such as a myriad of specialized massage modalities, several energy modalities, and yoga. I named my business Liquid Soul because it represents the fluid nature by which I practice. I understand and appreciate the individuality of each person and focus on a prescriptive measure as a practitioner. My clientele base varies widely in age and gender to the outcome being sought. Because of the uniqueness of my prescriptive aim, my parameters for possible clientele are wide.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been drawn to helping people feel better. I was born with a sensitivity toward how other people feel, and I felt led to use my empathic abilities as one of the leading highlights of my career choice. I am very disciplined by nature and enjoy working, so being a business owner fits into my personality well. I experienced a lot of bias and inequality in the corporate world and felt driven to create an environment in which everyone is welcomed free of judgment, accepted exactly as they are, and always treated with respect. I have also experienced the miraculous healing a body can do when given the right tools and environment to come back into balance. These experiences, in combination with my personality, are the foundation of my passion and drive to build and continue to build my business. The biggest motivating factor of each and every moment of the day is the genuine love for helping people. I truly feel like the luckiest person on the planet to walk into my studio every day. What I do lights me up because it brings me joy. That is the ultimate secret to success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my robust following. I have a large clientele base that I have maintained since I started my business, and it continues to grow by word of mouth through referrals. The biggest honor is when people refer their family members to me. I feel extremely blessed that people trust me to take care of them and their families.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is not being able to fit everything into my schedule. Being a solo practitioner, I can only be in one place at a time, so that can make my days pretty long and days off quite minimal. As time goes on, and through experience and flexibility, you learn ways to balance the scale and tighten boundaries where needed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Here are my top three tips to start and run a successful business.

  1. Make sure you love what you do.
  2. Treat people well.
  3. Maintain a sense of humor. Stress is the main cause of imbalance in your body, so don't take yourself too seriously.
