Kiss Your Kiddo’s Sleep Problems Goodbye! - Kelly Murray

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelly Murray, Owner of Kelly Murray Sleep Consulting, located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My team and I help tired families, and individuals 0 to 100 get the restful sleep they desperately need through customized, holistic sleep programs.

Tell us about yourself

I opened my Pediatric Sleep Practice after sleep training my 9-month-old. It was such a life-changing experience, albeit an emotional one, that I wanted to support other moms struggling to solve their children's sleep issues. In terms of my Adult Sleep Practice, I had never been a great sleeper and tried everything under the sun, from sleeping pills to cognitive behavioral therapy, to solve my sleep issues. It wasn't until I discovered functional lab testing and worked on addressing my hidden stressors, imbalances and deficiencies through the proper lifestyle, diet, and supplements that I was finally able to sleep well again. This journey inspired me to become a Certified Sleep Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practioner. Knowing how amazing it feels to get proper sleep versus being sleep deprived motivates me to help my clients solve their sleep issues once and for all!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having the honor of supporting my family financially by doing something that I love on my own terms!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Finding the right balance between work and life. Owning your own business can be all-consuming, especially when doing something you love. However, it is essential to remember why you started your own business in the first place. At least for me, it was to have the flexibility required to work and be more present for my family.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find something you are passionate about.
  2. Go all in and try not to worry about finances initially. If you work hard, the revenue will follow.
  3. Don't be afraid to outsource tasks not part of your core competency. Doing so will help free up your time to work on projects that will move the needle in your business.
