Capturing Precious Moments Forever - KBVideo Memories
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in videography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathleen Brown, Founder of KBVideo Memories, located in Lawrenceville, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is creating videos, either for personal or business use. My clients are varied from individuals looking for a special video for an event such as a birthday or wedding to transferring and editing old family videos to commercials and promotional videos, independent films, applications, highlight reels, and many more.
Tell us about yourself
I began this as a hobby several years ago when my kids were in elementary school. I created videos for the students in both of my sons' classes at the end of each year. I discovered I really enjoyed doing it and decided to turn it into a business. My motivation is that I love editing and getting to tell people's stories in a way that they will enjoy. Even the business videos tell a story.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It's hard to choose. I've worked on a couple of very independent films, which was exciting. My favorite videos are ones where I get to bring someone's story to life - interviews with family members, for example.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
For me, the two most difficult things are marketing my business and finances. I definitely struggle with those two aspects. Marketing is difficult for me, especially for a product that most people don't understand.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you're going to start a business, you need a lot of patience and perseverance. Don't be frustrated if you don't get a response right away. It takes a while to build up a client base and a reputation. Join networking groups. They're a great way to make connections, as well as get advice from people who know and understand what you're going through. Don't be afraid to ask for help! You're not alone, and most people are willing to help - if you ask.
