What's your business, and who are your customers?

Tell us about yourself
I was born with a knack for helping those around me ascend in their careers, relationships, and, ultimately, their lives. New York-born, with drive and vision from the get-go, I decided – at age 12 – I was never going to work for anyone but myself. While my friends were busy counting their Pokemon cards, I was figuring out how the basics of how to code and design websites – just for fun.
This was near the beginning of my journey; however, it took a few more years to find my Ikigai (the Japanese concept of the intersection between what you love to do, what the world needs, what you are good at, and what you can make money doing).
At first, my Ikigai was small business marketing, but I craved more, wanting to dive deeper into the process of understanding from the inside out what transformed someone from saying "No" to a "Yes." This brought me to talent management and subsequently building KMG into the full-service agency that it is today.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I can't share much detail, but off the top of my head, my biggest accomplishment date as a business owner to date would be securing a hard-fought contract with a Fortune 500 company for a client.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur is the constant stretching that you must become comfortable with. Often the phenomenon of "stepping outside of your comfort zone" and "pushing boundaries" is glossed over when in reality, you don't fully realize until you are in it what that will mean, what it will feel like when you are suddenly required to remove your "sales" hat and immediately replace it with your "head of marketing" or "chief of web design" hat.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips I would give anyone looking to start, run, and grow a business today are as follow:
- Know that it is ok to be afraid, but in order to reach your goals, the only way is through.
- Never stop asking questions.
- If it doesn't make you nervous, then your ask is too small; think bigger.
