Breakthrough Burnout Coach - Katrina Houghton

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Katrina Houghton, CEO of The Wellness Boss, located in Oromocto, New Brunswick, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

In my business, I offer both health and life coaching - for busy women who want to take back control of their health and life. I also have a local Wellness Clinic. I am a registered Reflexologist and Reiki Master offering holistic healing modalities out of the clinic. My customers are mostly women who need help with getting their lives and health back on track. Being a busy woman in today's world is extreme, and sometimes it's hard to put ourselves first, ensuring that we are taking care of our needs. Whether you are a career-driven woman or a stay-at-home mom, life can get hectic. I am here to help you strategize on how to get your health back in balance so that you can continue to live an amazing life.

Tell us about yourself

I am a mother of three teenaged girls and fell in love with holistic healing modalities when my daughters were young. I love energy therapy and wanted to learn how to help people heal through healthy eating, healthy habits, and balancing your energies inside and out. I relate very well to most women from both angles - the working mom and the stay-at-home mom (I have been both), and each phase has brought in new challenges. It is too easy to put everyone and everything else first and lose ourselves in becoming "mom." Hence, my mission is to help women feel better in their body and help them live the life they want.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening up my own wellness clinic. One year ago, I opened my first wellness clinic offering Reiki, Reflexology, Hot Stone Massage, Raindrop Technique, and Coaching to help people with pain management, reduce stress, and extreme relaxation. I am able to help people relieve the pain they have felt for years, and that is truly rewarding. Additionally, once 2020 hit and the pandemic started, I have learned how to pivot online, offering group coaching programs and one on one coaching via zoom and Facebook. So I am able to help more women on a global level. That has been incredible!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing my time between work and family. I absolutely love my family, but I absolutely love the women I work with too. It is easy to fall into the "work-a-holic" state when you are an entrepreneur and love what you do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor or hire a coach. Every coach needs a coach - I have several.
  2. Figure out a time to work on your business and in your business. You must market yourself, or you will have no customers.
  3. Ooze confidence. Know your craft and become your business. You don't have to sell yourself hard when you are your business. Your energy will radiate, and people will naturally be attracted to you and what you offer.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Along with my wellness clinic and health coaching, I also run a Women in Wellness Business Mastermind group, which not only helps to build a community for like-minded female entrepreneurs, but together we have the power of masterminding any obstacles that come our way personally and professionally.

I invite you to join my private Facebook group - it is a private women's community here.:
