What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a photographer and also involved in the wellness field (Yoga teacher/Massage Therapist/Reiki). My clients want memories and artwork created. They want art that brings back a feeling they once had. They want to live in this world instead of just exist.
Tell us about yourself
I've always been an artsy child and took up photography in my middle/high school years. I wanted to take photos for a living and knew it would be no small feat. After my obtaining my photography degree, I captured my first wedding and loved the fact that I got to create these memories for people. I love being able to wake up and say, "Look what I get to do today!" instead of, "look what I have to do today."
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
A few things come to mind...I would say being able to say No to things now instead of thinking I have to say yes all the time. Also, having my work accepted into juried art exhibits, having returning clients, and be able to make my own schedule.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Trying to work while working. I'm always creating something new, but finding the time to get it out there to get new clients while still working is sometimes challenging. I like to be in control, so finding help that understands my thought process is not always accessible.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Make sure you're doing your business for yourself, that you take care of yourself, and invest in yourself.
