A Unique Look Into Your Health - Kathi Busse
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathi Busse, owner of Holistic Health & Wellness, Integrated Ayurveda, located in Redding, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Holistic Health & Wellness is an all-natural Mind-Body Healthcare Program. Mind: Clients learn how to handle stress at the moment with clinical results in reducing anxiety, fear, worry, anger, and depression. Body: Clients learn their unique micro-biodome (gut) and then choose the foods that they are able to digest. Reduce belly bloat, constipation and/or diarrhea, and other GI symptoms by eating the right foods for their digestion.
Integrated Ayurveda works with clients on their health through positive lifestyle changes, diet, and herbs to correct imbalances. PanchaKarma is a detoxing program that we use to help one come back into balance, mind, and body.
Tell us about yourself
My education in my file was directed by the clients that came threw my door. I started as a personal trainer. Then learned that nutrition was important too, so I studied and became a nutritionist. Still seeing that my clients needed something more, I became an Ayurvedic Health Practitioner to help with imbalances and dis-eases that one may have. I had a beautiful clinic in Grass Valley before COVID hit. Everything came to a standstill, and then my landlord sold the building. Looking for a silver lining with all of the new now, I moved to Redding, got re-married, and opened a new clinic. It is located in a beautiful plaza not far from where I live. Seeing people recover, heal, and rejuvenate also gives me healing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was pulling together seven Ayurvedic practitioners, creating a clinic for all to utilize and create their own private practice, and having everyone stay for the five years that it was in operation.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It's your baby. You think about it during the day and sometimes into the night. You are the one that will show up if someone else cannot. I wear two hats - one as a business owner and one as a healthcare practitioner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research your niche. Know your clientele.
- Take a class on Profit & Loss sheets and simple business accounting tax purposes.
- Enjoy what you do. Enjoy the place you are in. Enjoy the people you'll be with. Enjoy the people that you will be helping.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If you do what you love - you will love what you do - and your day will zip by. Put it all done on paper first. If it fails on paper, then it was just paper. Try again. Have fun with it. It doesn't have to cost much to be in business if you do it wisely.
