What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a candle-making workshop for creative individuals who are interested in learning how to and creating their own signature scented candles at my Sip & Smell Experience.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business from home after being laid off from my full-time job at the start of COVID19 in 2020. Candle making is a hobby that I inherited from my mother after she passed on Christmas Day in 2018. I'm motivated daily to continue growing and building my business by the grace of God and my drive to succeed. He and I put too much into me for us to give up now!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment thus far as a business owner has been having two sold-out classes in both Atlanta and Brooklyn.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me has been staying consistent and focused on my business goals - all too often. My personal life would start living. It would knock me down, so I had to learn how to pivot to balance my personal and business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top 3 tips would bump what a hater has to say - you can do it! Believe in yourself more than you do your insecurities. Lastly, respect your customer's time and money as people work hard for it so appreciate the customers doing business with you.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you. Either I win, or I learn.
