Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kate Jones, Founder of Kate Jones Life Coaching, located in Auckland, New Zealand.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a life coach that works with women as they embody their inherent purpose to claim the life they KNOW they came here to live. We work on defining who they choose to be in this life through the intentional development of their core values and at re-establishing their life foundations; we create deep roots to support their heart-led vision that has often laid dormant until working with me. I coach women who need a different way of looking at the world around them to ignite their self-trust and move towards feeling confident, fulfilled, sacred and alive in their own life. These women have usually set aside their own dreams, feeling they need to sacrifice their being-ness to satisfy the demands of society financially successful, perfect mum, have it all together, the good girl. Unaware of the layers of conditioning and self-limiting beliefs enveloping them, something intrinsic is calling to be seen and heard. In my signature live, online, for 15 minutes, every day, for 40 days course, RISE, we unravel self-attack and judgment in all areas of life through a process that can be used forever for continual self-awareness. Women who work with me evolve their self-trust to be a pillar they can rely on no matter what.

Tell us about yourself

I am eternally grateful for having guidance at age 27 to turn my life around from one of zero self-worth to a life that I absolutely love! In the process of following the breadcrumbs of what lit me up, I found myself in Peru, where perceived traumas in my life came full circle with lots of closure. With this came a deep knowing that I had to step up to do this work and create the container and community that I was searching for. I was terrified. I have come a long way from not speaking in a weekly women's circle for two years to now facilitating a wide variety of experiences to guide others back into their bodies, connecting with their inner knowing, the Divine mother Earth, and the Universe. This is a lived journey for me. The way that I grow towards the most sacred version of me in this life is through helping other women travel this path to self-trust and self-awareness.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Stepping beyond my fears and the naysayers that said, "no one wants to show up every day for 40 days of self-development!" I am currently running the 6th version of this course. It has the most beautiful community of women who usually sign up to do the course annually as a spiritual "warrant of fitness." Some even show up each time I run the course. Every time they go a little deeper into their own fears ad self-limiting beliefs and transform them into love. I feel the biggest accomplishment is this container of wise, supportive women and a space of no expectation, no judgment, and full acceptance.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balance. I love what I do and can do it nonstop. I love creating, holding space, and developing my skills. I can get lost in knowing that I am of service to the collective. However, I am also a mum of two tween boys and an executive wife. I love this role equally as much. I often feel torn between feeling like I am not spending enough time with my loved ones and not working on my business enough.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Double the deadline. You are in this for a lifetime, not a season. Give yourself time to develop and grow without feeling like you are always running out of time.
  2. Practice becoming present in the moment. If you enjoy every moment of the journey, not just the end result, you will find constant pleasure in what you are delivering, and in those moments of becoming intentionally present, you allow yourself to hear your intuition and open up to constant downloads of inspiration.
  3. Know your values and what you stand for; they are the pillars of your offerings. Re-visit them often to check you haven't slipped into someone else's vision of what you "should" be doing. Know how to stay in your own lane.
