Align Your Personal Brand With Your Vision - Karla Massiel
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Karla Massiel, a business mentor based in Florida, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help solopreneurs align their personal brand and business with the life they truly desire through mentorship. My clients include virtual assistants, coaches, consultants, strategists, creatives, and mentors.
Tell us about yourself
While creating my first brand, the first fundraising platform for extreme social causes in Latin America, I got to understand how a business works, how to create something that you really want and make it work till the point where we generated more than US$100,000 while I was there and now the same system has generated more than US$1,000,000 in funds. From this experience, in 2017, I started searching for ways to share my knowledge and ended up becoming a mentor for accelerator programs in the Dominican Republic. There, I had the opportunity to meet many solopreneurs and help them achieve their goals.
However, I noticed that even with strong business skills and growing brands, these solopreneurs often felt stuck. The main reason for this was that their personal goals and lifestyles were not aligned with their brand, leading to frustration and a lack of excitement in their daily lives. In response, I created Aligned, a mentorship program that helps solopreneurs build a brand that aligns with their desired lifestyle and supports them through brand and business strategy and systems. It is amazing to be able to help others create a business and brand that truly excites them and helps them achieve their desired reality.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I created a social brand in 2013 from scratch that continues to make an impact even after my departure in 2017, thanks to the established system.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Mentality. Managing your emotions, limiting beliefs and trauma so it doesn't affect your decision-making and the life you are currently creating for yourself.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Invest in yourself: Your mind is the creator of your reality, so investing in yourself is investing in your reality.
- Trust your instinct: You might find a path that is the one for you, something that no one created before. Believe in yourself and get information.
- Act and let yourself be guided: Strategy is good, but it does nothing without action. Take the first step towards what you really want, and the others will follow. That first step could be a coaching session, a program, or just a break. Don't overthink it, just do it.
