Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in dance education but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Karla Maldonado, Director of Kumbala Dance Studio, located in Farmers Branch, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Kumbala Dance Studio provides daily private and group dance classes. Salsa, bachata, cumbia, reggaeton, etc. We'll help you get the technique for you to enjoy every party you attend. We do wedding and quinceaneras choreographies as well.
Tell us about yourself
I started teaching dance classes in 2014; it wasn't even a question to open my own dance studio when I got the chance. Kumbala was born in 2019, and ever since then, I have worked on it 24/7, but it's not a job; it's my lifestyle.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building up a beautiful community and helping people enjoy their days a little more.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The non-stop lifestyle. It's the biggest blessing and a curse to work on your own business every single day of the month, early mornings, very late nights, through good and bad days.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Consistency, passion, very hard work, and patience. Don't ever lose the human touch.
