What's your business, and who are your customers?
Kaia Health and Wellness is a women's wellness coaching business that focuses on helping women over age 40 reclaim their sleep and their health.
Tell us about yourself
I am a best-selling author of two books, a sleep expert, a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, a mother of three, cancer survivor, and I am on a mission to help millions of women sleep again. When I turned 47, my sleep totally disappeared. It took about six months of dealing with brain fog, low energy, and chronic exhaustion, plus using every tool in my toolkit to bring it back. This led to writing my first best-selling book - "Powerful Sleep - Rest Deeply, Repair Your Brain and Restore Your Sleep," to help peri and postmenopausal women reclaim their sleep, power, energy, and vitality. After working with hundreds of accomplished, driven, executive women who are chronically exhausted and unable to find their own way back to sleep, I started my Rest & Reset Academy to help more women reset their habits to get the restorative nighttime rest that their bodies and minds desperately need. This led to my second best-selling book - "Irresistibly Healthy - Simple Strategies to Feel Vibrant, Alive, Healthy and Full of Energy Again." My motivation comes from seeing the incredible results of my clients. By teaching women in midlife how to make small but powerful changes in their lifestyle, they can improve their brain health and heart health, lower inflammation levels, and prevent chronic disease so they enjoy the new freedom and creativity that comes with life after menopause.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My two best-selling books and my client's success stories.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Making sure I walk my talk every day. When I teach others how to show up for themselves, prioritize self-care, exercise daily, improve their diet, and take time to relax, I have to remember that this applies to myself as well.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Invest in yourself outside of the office. Take a class, cook healthy foods, walk in nature, listen to music, and have fun with your friends. Anything that fills your soul and brings you joy.
- Make time to relax. If you don't make time during the day to relax, your sleep and health will pay the price.
- Be authentic. There is only one of you. This is your competitive advantage.
