What's your business, and who are your customers?
I make high-quality instructional videos and other electronic resources for people who want to learn to play the fiddle or improve their skill level.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve been in the music business for my entire working life. I recognized the need for high-quality music instruction online a long time ago, but the COVID pandemic gave me the perfect opportunity to get into that business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to support my wife, our twin boys, and four stepkids exclusively from being a musician/educator.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a business owner without employees, if I don’t get it done, it doesn’t get done. Being in a creative field with a deadline is a challenge, but I have tried to use that as a driving force rather than a millstone around my neck.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be willing to work at any time and anywhere. The job has to get done, or you don’t eat!
- Work smarter, not harder.
- Prioritize the needs of your family and spend quality time with them.
