Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kas Djordjevich, Founder of Junipr Design, located in Cambridge, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a brand strategy coach helping female entrepreneurs create bulletproof brands to help them scale their businesses and ATTRACT your perfect clients. Using our signature three-step system- clarity, creation, and attraction, you will learn how to position yourself as the most suitable option for your clients to fall in love with your brand AND you. My approach is focused on creating a brand that is sustainable in the long run, can continuously grow with attraction marketing, and you, as the business owner, can thrive having a balance of masculine and feminine energy. I specifically work with women that love to go against the grain. You know you have a million-dollar idea, and you are ready to put the work in to make it happen for you NOW. I will teach you how to shine through your brand and sell by simply being you.

Tell us about yourself

Two years ago, I was a BROKE college student with $0.20 to my name studying design and art with 0 direction in life, working as a barista to make ends meet. Dealing with major anxiety (and what I recently now know is ADHD), I dropped out of school and decided to start a small Etsy shop for event stationery and art- using Instagram to market... at the start of a global pandemic. Having a bit of knowledge and a LOT of interest in branding and marketing, I did everything possible that made my Instagram blow up in a few weeks with lots of trial and error. I began working with 6 and 7-figure online coaches to create physical products for their brands and help with their branding. But I realized the huge gaps in their brand foundations, preventing them from attracting hundreds of more clients- rather than hustling every second of the day.

I introduced coaching and quickly sold out my first program- Poppin' Brand Foundations within a few weeks... it's been a journey ever since. I absolutely love to inspire women who were taught that their lives had to be a certain way or that they could not do something for their future.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would be creating a brand from the start with the mission of being bulletproof and sustainable, so I could easily pivot and adapt as I grew. I think a huge misconception with entrepreneurs is that you have to have the PERFECT business plan to have success when in reality, it comes down to how your foundation can withstand quick changes and pivots. Yes, I had quick success- but I also had continuous growth through every pivot as I adapted to the massive changes in the online space in the last two years.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is embracing all seasons. There is no "if I fail...". You will fail- a launch won't go to plan, you'll have a nightmare client, and an idea will turn to crap... but how you learn to embrace that lesson with make or break you. There will be moments of imposter syndrome and loneliness, but remember to surround yourself with people that support you and trust in yourself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

It's hard to narrow it down to only three, but here are the consistent tips I give to everyone in the business:

  1. Learn to say f*ck it. One thing I've learned is that opportunities don't wait around for you. Stop waiting for "next quarter" or "more time" or whatever to take the next step. Say f*ck it. Take the photo, post the imperfect caption, and move forward. Nothing is stopping you from immediately showing up and talking like your 6 and 7-figure self.
  2. Don't give into the trends; remember what is in the best interest of your ideal client. (Don't try to blow up on a platform your ideal client would never care to be on).
  3. Don't skip building your brand strategy- this will separate a business that will thrive from a business that will barely survive. Your brand strategy has the power to attract and convert dream clients as you sleep continuously... who wouldn't want that?
