Good at Stress - Juna
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Taylor Lamb, Co-Founder of Juna, located in Dana Point, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Women everywhere are more sleep-deprived, stressed, overworked, and anxiety-ridden than ever. As female founders, entrepreneurs, and mothers, we experienced this first hand. True necessity led us to the creation of Juna because we ultimately sought relief but didn't want to turn to prescriptions and pharmaceuticals. Juna offers plant-powered solutions to optimize mind, body, mood, and sleep. We are looking to redefine the wellness space by offering these effective yet natural alternatives for women so they can show up every day as the best version of themselves.
Tell us about yourself
Before Juna, I led growth marketing and e-commerce for the direct-to-consumer sleepwear brand Lunya, the popular jewelry brand Gorjana, and the sustainable fashion brand Cleobella. By integrating analytical data with human psychology, I identify behavioral trends, growth opportunities, and new acquisition channels and develop and implement strategic omnichannel marketing campaigns that drive both brand recognition and significant revenue growth. After becoming pregnant with my first child, I became more aware of my health, balance, and well-being.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In just 2.5 years, we've earned 3x our initial investment, landed partnerships in major retailers, and have built a cult following with over $1.6 million in sales and an impressive 40% repeat purchase rate. Leading women's health physicians recommend Juna's products all over the country. We've also received over a hundred press features, thousands of reviews, and testimonials. Every Juna product has a 5-star average rating. Our recurring subscription program makes up almost half of our online revenue, proving efficacy and brand loyalty.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Balancing life and work! I have a toddler, a ten-week-old, and a growing startup that all require my time, love, and attention.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Our advice would be to make sure your product:
A. Solves a clear problem/need.
B. Truly is effective and can enhance someone's life.
C. Can fit into your customer's routine.
D. Your brand resonates with a specific target demographic.
This is the formula we follow when developing new products and new product categories. We always aim to be authentic and honest when branding and brand voice. Since we are both within Juna's target demographic, it always makes it a bit easier to step back and ask ourselves if it resonates with us emotionally - did we laugh, learn, or connect with it? And ultimately, is it something we want to share with our friends?
