What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help empty nesters, and single women make midlife the happiest and healthiest part of their story! As a Chef and Wellness Coach, I share tips, meal plans, and recipes for Cooking for 1 or 2 through my "Healthy Made Easy" program, as well as 1:1 Wellness Coaching to work through any barriers women have to feel their best. Additionally, I host Women's Wellness Retreats and Women's Tuscany Tours to provide an opportunity to travel, find a supportive community of other women, and, most importantly, have fun and enjoy life!

Tell us about yourself

I was originally an unfulfilled Engineer and Tech Consultant, but after becoming a mom of 2 daughters, I decided to follow my dream of attending culinary school and working in food or hospitality. After working in Food Media at Food Network and cooking magazines, I launched my own Content Creation Agency, publishing 1000's recipes and cooking videos, as well as doing hundreds of TV cooking segments and brand partnerships.

As I grew my personal brand in the food world, I realized that so many midlife women were struggling with cooking for 1 or 2, their wellness when it came to sleep, stress management, emotional eating, and their overall self-care. Women do so much for everyone else and often put their own needs last! So I created healthy cooking programs, Wellness Retreats, and Women's Tuscany Travel Experiences so they could make midlife the happiest, healthiest, and most FUN part of their story. Life's too short, and the years fly by. I want to help other women enjoy life to the max!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've worked with some of the biggest names in cooking and lifestyle, such as Bed Bath Beyond, Real Simple, Shape, and Weight Watchers and have been on national TV multiple times. But honestly, just being fearless about shifting gears to use my talents in lots of different ways throughout my life is my biggest business accomplishment.

I'm thrilled to extend my brand to create International Travel Experiences for women. So many women put off travel for "someday" or don't have a safe, supportive group of other women to travel with. My goal is to create that and share my love of travel and food culture with them while also exposing them to inspiring female chefs, winemakers, and artisans on our tours to open their minds and help them feel less "stuck" in their midlife every day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Honestly, as an entrepreneur, you perpetually have an endless to-do list of things you "could or should" be doing for your business. It's hard to feel "done" on any given day or week versus a typical 9 to 5 job.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Seek out a supportive community of fellow entrepreneurial women to be part of and help support their careers as well.
  2. Stay curious and open about technology and social media - hire help in a virtual assistant or take online classes to stay current.
  3. Network to grow your personal brand, and be sure to tell everyone you encounter and know what you're working on - you never know who will be able to connect you or help you grow.
