Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julie Williams, Founder of Julie Williams Consulting, located in Lake Oswego, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Julie Williams Consulting, which focuses on helping psychotherapists create a sustainable, burnout-proof practice that values the needs of their clients and themselves.
Tell us about yourself
I am a psychologist in private practice myself and have struggled with severe burnout. My mission is to help "helpers" recognize how they can meet their own needs AND that of their clients simultaneously while avoiding burnout. I am motivated by seeing the relief my clients feel when they realize they can set boundaries and still be great therapists.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Recognizing the need for a shift in how I do things in my own practice as a psychotherapist and my ability to help others do the same.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Work-life balance and having an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity mindset. I believe that working more hours out of fear keeps us in a scarcity mindset.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be patient with yourself.
- Delegate, delegate, delegate.
- Take a moment (or a day) to grieve when something doesn't go right, then move on.
