Clarity, Confidence, Real Life Results - Julie A. Lichty

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julie Lichty, owner of Julie A. Lichty, LLC., located in York, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I partner with clients, ages 21 and beyond, who are at a crossroads and help them discover their best career, business, or life path. I refer to my coaching process as a treasure hunt. Together we clarify who they are and all they have to offer, create a "map," and begin implementing their desired direction. There are always so many valuable insights and perspectives that surface during our work together. Clients find clarity and confidence where they previously had confusion and frustration.

Tell us about yourself

After years of success in a corporate setting, I knew something was missing. I began to research options and, initially, experienced several false starts, which was frustrating. Ultimately, coaching found me via an article about professional coaching. This was in the early days of coaching, and although I knew little about it, I immediately felt the resonance. I was so inspired that I built and piloted my business model in four months. I've never looked back! My work as a coach is in complete alignment with who I am, what I have to offer, and how I like to live, work and play.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'd have to say it's the deep satisfaction I experience from each coaching connection and the related results. Helping diverse clients excavate their truest selves, identify their natural gifts and talents, and implement life-changing decisions never gets old.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Initially, for me, it was making the leap from being employed by a large, well-established firm to launching my own small business. I navigated the transition in my own way and on my own timeline, so it was smooth, but it was definitely daunting as I anticipated it!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Passion. It will be difficult to sustain if you're not passionate about your business idea, the process, and your clients.
  2. Authenticity. Your business should reflect as much of you as possible, not in an obvious way, but in a nuanced way. We're not taught this, but it makes a significant difference across all aspects of your small business.
  3. Lifelong learning. Successful businesses flex and adapt. It's important to refine your business along the way, not only to reflect changes in the external world but also to reflect changes in you, your life, and your philosophies as the owner.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

If you have a business idea or desire to make a career or life change, take the next small step. You won't regret investing time, energy, or money to explore yourself and the possibilities waiting for you.
