increase your visibility - Julia Zatta

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in content creation but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julia Zatta, Social Media Manager based in Barcelona, Spain.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help UK-based business owners stand out on LinkedIn. Since the pandemic, the online space has gotten really crowded, and standing out online requires a strategy. I help clients design a strategy and implement it with done-for-you content creation.

Tell us about yourself

I love social media because it allows business owners to create communities and sell their services and products to a loyal audience. I especially love how you can build relationships with people anywhere on the planet and aren't constrained by your location. When the pandemic hit, I was running a small online business catering to yoga teachers. I was able to generate leads and clients organically through various social channels. I cultivated relationships with yoga teachers all over the world and established myself as an authority in my niche.

But with COVID, it all took a bad turn. The lockdown forced many of my clients to shut down their studios for good. At the same time, the online space got tremendously crowded, and I felt drowned out by the noise. So I decided to go back to school to upgrade my social media skills to the current times. I pivoted my business to help business owners who need help staying abreast of the latest social media trends to remain visible and profitable.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel proud of the fact that I built a profitable business from scratch with no prior business knowledge. I learned it all on my own by putting one foot in front of the other and believing that the results would show themselves eventually.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest lesson for me has been to remove the word failure from my vocabulary. Every setback is a learning opportunity, and in order to move forward, I can't be marred by my negative thinking. I have learned to seek support sooner than later and move forward with a growth mindset. Easier said than done.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Seek professional support; this costs money but saves you a lot of time in the short term.
  2. Surround yourself with positive people. You can't be around naysayers at the beginning of your journey; they will slow you down and challenge your self-confidence.
  3. Make sure you're visible on social media. A website isn't enough to give you credibility and generate new leads. You need to have an active social media account. This will help people trust you more.
