Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Judy Kane, founder, and author of Aligned Consciousness, located in Tarpon Springs, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help people remove barriers to achieving their conscious goals. These can show up in many ways. Some people feel uncomfortable when they think about doing certain things. Some people are working really hard to meet certain goals and are frustrated because it's not happening for them. Subconscious beliefs can be hard to identify, but they impact 95% of our behavior. Most of them are established by the time we are seven years old. They often cause us to make decisions based on what we don't want (fear) vs. what we do want. I help people identify these and change them to support conscious goals.
Tell us about yourself
I have what seems to be an unlikely path to where I am now. I spent decades in IT and IT management, then five years as a realtor. Along the way, I discovered that people don't have to live in constant stress and struggle. In 2009 I was introduced to the process I use. I started taking workshops in 2011 with the goal of helping myself and my family and friends. By 2014, I knew I wanted to help a broader audience, so I started my business, Aligned Consciousness. I get immense satisfaction helping people make the changes needed to create peace and fulfillment in their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There are three, actually. The clients I help are at the top of the list. Along the way, in the process of building my business, I've established wonderful relationships with the people I network with. And I wrote a book (Your4Truths: How Beliefs Impact Your Life) in 2021 that helps people understand the patterns in their lives and know that they don't have to live with them - they can be changed.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding the most effective way to get my message to my audience. There are so many ways to do this, and at first, I was overwhelmed, thinking I had to be good at all of them. Trying out methods and messages takes time, patience, and confidence in what you have to offer. I ended up with networking as my primary method and added two social media platforms to supplement that. My business generally comes from referrals and past clients.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be very clear about what you have to offer, who you help, and how you help them.
- Find your comfort zone for getting your message out there.
- Be confident about the value you provide and know that there are many people out there that are looking for exactly that.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Pay attention to how you feel when you're doing all the things you do for your business (or actually anywhere in your life). Go with the actions that light you up. Take time and space for dreaming about what you want to happen, and be specific with those dreams. Give yourself permission to run your business the way you choose - because it is your business.
