A Life Well Planted - Judy DeLorenzo
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Judy DeLorenzo, Founder of A Life Well Planted, located in Thomaston, CT, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a holistic nutritionist, whole foods plant-based (WFPB) coach, herbalist, and energy healer. Clients come to me with a myriad of health concerns looking for a nutritional and lifestyle solution to their problems. I listen, educate, support, and encourage clients as they walk the plant path toward vibrant health.
Tell us about yourself
For over a decade, I was chronically ill with unusual neurological symptoms that neither my MD nor ND could help me with. Switching to a whole-food, plant-based diet and incorporating herbs into my protocol brought me back to vibrant health. Ten years into plant power, and I'm still eating for health and using food as medicine with gratitude and joy. As a result of my personal health journey, I wanted to help others recover from chronic illness through nutrition and lifestyle. I added tools to my box by becoming a certified holistic nutritionist, WFPB coach, and herbalist. It's immensely rewarding helping people recover from dis-ease in this way.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
This is a tough question because there are so many small wins that add up to big gains. Each and every time a person improves their health as a result of our work together, I feel energized and grateful. Writing my cookbook, "From Chronically Ill to Vibrantly Well: Recovery Through a Plant-Based Diet," certainly was a big accomplishment. It was a two-year labor of love that I created while caring for my mother during her end-of-life years. Mom tested each and every recipe, making the book that much more special to me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It's sometimes difficult figuring out where to place my energy each day. There is always so much to do and learn continuing education is something I take very seriously. Balancing work and play is always a challenge, especially since I consider my work play.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Choose a field that you are passionate about.
- Offer your products and services from your heart.
- Enjoy the journey, and continue to learn along the way.
