Handcrafted Arts With Loving Reiki Energy - Juanita Martin
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Juanita Martin, founder of Your Reiki Relief and Nitjuan Designs, located in South Orange, NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I actually have two businesses — Nitjuan Designs and Your Reiki Relief. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, Vibrational Sound Therapist, Certified Crystal Healer, and Artist.
Most of my clients are people on their spiritual path and/or art lovers. I believe that we are all born healers, and I help people to tap into their individual energy to manifest the life they desire. I love teaching and certifying new Reiki Practitioners as I believe it adds to the love in the world.
I create wire-crocheted and wire-wrapped jewelry and home accessories. I infuse all of my products with loving Reiki energy for the benefit of my clients.
Tell us about yourself
Directly after my birth, my mother became ill. I always remembered my mom taking medications, and with all those medications, she still passed away at the young age of 54. Something inside of me knew there was a better way to care for yourself, and I was determined to figure that out and share it with the people I loved.
This set me on my holistic path. I’ve studied Western and Eastern medicine and many energetic modalities. I believe there are benefits to all of the above. I combine all of these in my practice.
I earned my BA in Health, Arts, and Science (everything I love) and began my practice in 2004. I’ve certified well over 100 Reiki Practitioners and am looking forward to our upcoming Level III certification in October.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is leaving a very well-paying position which I held for 23 years, to do what I love. It took me five years to follow through on that decision with careful planning, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I do what I love on a daily basis!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Wearing the many hats necessary to run a successful, expansive business. Knowing that you are not only the founder but human resources, accountant, marketing manager, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don’t let anyone rain on your parade. Several people may have a similar idea, but no one will do it the way you do.
- Do your research and determine who you want to be in whatever arena you choose.
- Network! Find like-minded individuals who will support and encourage your vision.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Always be ready to pivot and plan to expand your vision so that things don’t get stale.
