What's your business, and who are your customers?
Joystik is a company dedicated to teaching people a relaxation technique called autogenics. This technique is simple to learn, efficient, and powerful. Our customers are people who want to have less stress, sleep better, improve performance and focus, and live a more joyful life.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a family medicine doctor with integrative medicine training. I’ve seen hundreds of patients impacted by anxiety and depression, and I have learned we all benefit from having a variety of techniques to help us manage our stressors. Joystik is a technique that isn’t easily accessible, and we want to bring this technique to as many people as we can.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
For me, I didn’t see myself having a career outside of medicine. Starting something new and taking the risk of being an entrepreneur is an exciting process.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The balance between being committed to your vision of the product while also being receptive to feedback so you create something users want can be challenging.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would recommend taking the risk to start something. I’ve been so impressed by all the entrepreneurs who are willing to help other businesses. I’d also recommend looking into any local resources for small businesses because they can help make important connections. And keep an open mind.
