AYF Wellness Center - Johnny Dyson

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Johnny Dyson, life and fitness coach at AYF Wellness Center, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The name of my business is AYF Wellness Center. It is a virtual wellness center that focuses on clients who struggle with their weight in some way based on their life issues and or situations. What we do is offer life coaching to people through fitness and nutrition while breaking down their barriers in life. Many should try to support my business because we all have friends, family members, associates and know people who have health issues and can't stop the habits that led them to wherever they are. If someone doesn't know why they are a diabetic, has hypertension, high blood pressure, and more, they have some underlying reason why they continue not fix what got them in that situation. Each person we help, we are not just changing lives but generations because they have an opportunity to pass it through their family.

Tell us about yourself

Over the past few years, I've already been researching nutrition, fitness, and mindfulness, but it wasn't until I decided to start taking some life coaching classes many things started opening up for me. While in class, the instructor asked me what type of Life Coach would I be, and without a beat, I said a Wellness Coach, and the Professor said you would be that deep kind of person. At that time, I didn't know what it was exactly, but it just came out. After class, I started researching, and it all fits on what my journey has been thus far. What motivates me is seeing many people each day that may need my help and me continuing to stay humble to know that I, too, was overweight and had some health issues. I am proof that it can be done and would love to help the world in finding the truth to a healthy life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments thus far is I have doctors and people in the medical field that are intrigued by what I am doing. I've gotten numerous amount of calls, emails, texts, and more from people not just saying how I've changed their lives, but their doctors want to know what they are doing. I'm just humbled that I could be of any assistance on their journey and mostly about who they are and how much of a good job they have done.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things as a business owner is to take all the pitfalls as learning lessons and not as failures. When you take on so much as a business owner, it is hard not to be hard on yourself for not accomplishing a goal, but I try very hard to remember the laws of averages of getting 100 no's to get one yes but more importantly figuring out why the no is there in the first place.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Well, these are some of the things that have helped me along my way and some of the things I live by.

  1. You know more once you get on the journey of the business and just go ahead and start it. The more you procrastinate, you won't know what you have to know in some of the learning lessons that could help you.
  2. Start small. It is best to start small so the pitfalls don't hurt so bad at first. Don't spend thousands of dollars, and no one knows who you are. The small you start, the easier it is to see if this is something you really want to do and not lose a lot of money.
  3. Patience, Patience, Patience, and when you get done, use a bit more patience. We are living in a time when people want things like a microwave, which is quick and ready to eat. Well, if we are not comparing ourselves to people on social media that may not be telling the truth, being completely honest with ourselves, if we are putting our all into whatever we are trying to, we have an opportunity to take full responsibility for an outcome to do better.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

First of all, I would be remiss not to thank Evelyn Wiseman and everyone that had something to do with choosing me to speak about my experiences. Many could have been chosen, and I'm humbled and appreciative that I was chosen while looking forward to doing more business in the future. I would like to thank all of my clients, and our website is being revamped with a team of people that have seen interest in me to present me on a better platform. If anyone is interested, please just follow me on my social media handles for an update on the release date.
