Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jodi Aman, Therapist, Teacher,  Author & Spiritual Mentor, located in Rochester, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My online school, Earth Wisdom for Higher Consciousness, provides personal and professional development courses, private coaching, and groups for empaths, therapists, and service professionals. I'm currently onboarding more teachers and coaches to host their programs in the school.

Tell us about yourself

I started as a psychotherapist 26 years ago. Then, ten years ago, I began creating self-help videos and nonfiction books to have a greater impact than I could with one-on-one clients. Since then, I have been running more group programs. Humans are social learners, so my clients' transformations have been greater inside these communities. Currently, I have two: a therapeutic support group for empaths and a supervision group for therapists. The personal relationships I grow and the impact I witness on my clients' lives invigorate me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the large body of content I have created and the warm and loving audience I have grown. People write to me (or come up to me) every day and tell me that my videos have saved their life. These expressions have fortified me on days I feel overwhelmed by my list of tasks. I am proud to have sustained a robust and relevant presence that people count on.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

A challenge not unique to me is staying consistent on social media during the weeks when my business and family are extra busy. At those times, I share my colleague's posts or an old video of mine.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a niche and stick to it.
  2. Pick one social media outlet to shine in and grow the audience there first.
  3. Join a community of entrepreneurs doing what you are doing to share ideas and best practices.
