Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Lin, owner of JoDeen Cafe, located in Burnaby, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Taiwanese traditional street foods are called wheel cake. Popular afternoon dessert in Taiwan, and night market.

Tell us about yourself

I was selling those wheel cakes online to see if locals would accept these kinds of cakes. It turns out pretty well. So I thought maybe I could open up a cafe and continue introducing my home country's popular dessert to the Canadians. And letting more people know about Taiwanese dessert.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would like to open up more locations and let more people know about Taiwanese desserts. Make it the top Wheel cake business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sometimes, we will worry about our everyday sales and see if our customers enjoy the food as business owners also, if your employees are doing well to support your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you are confident about your product.
  2. Targeting the market. (Who are your customers)
  3. Is your location has enough market.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

My goal is to let more people know that Taiwan is the kingdom of delicious foods.
