Step Into Your Next Level Self - Jill Davenport
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jill Davenport, a Life Coach, and Energy Healer, based in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a Life Coach and Energy Healer. My clients are people who want to make a shift in their life, businesses/careers, relationships, health, self-care, or boundaries. I usually attract driven, creative people who are stressed out and want to change where they are to where they actually want to be - living their purpose with ease and passion.
Tell us about yourself
I've always loved self-development and making the most out of the human experience in our human bodies. I got into holistic healing at an early age, which led me to a stream of different healing modalities I offered when I started a healing practice in 2011. I got into coaching during that time. I had a lot of shifts personally and professionally from getting coached and felt the spark to learn how to facilitate that for others. I brought coaching into my healing sessions so we could work on the conscious and subconscious levels and found it so powerful that it became the lead in my work. I get so much energy and satisfaction from coaching others and helping them tap into their innate wisdom. I know this is my calling and what I'm supposed to be doing because it feels so good.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is attracting amazing clients and developing good energetic boundaries to repel not-good-fit clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner - this is for solopreneurs - is having to hold yourself accountable for doing things you need to in your business. There's no one to answer to, bounce ideas off of, or co-create with. You have to reach outside for that support with a coach or group that can provide that on some level and remain connected with your inner guidance. There's a lot of advice out there, which can be overwhelming too. Support that lets you find your path and encourages you to try things you have a spark to do is the best.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start something you've been pulled to do or have been interested in for a long time. Maybe it's something you don't think you can make money at. Do it for fun at first and see what happens. It might just be your path to all your dreams.
- Don't rely on your business to give you money for at least the first year. Hopefully, it will, but keep a side job so you don't have that stress for money which can make you put off desperate vibes to potential clients. You need money to invest or reinvest in your business too.
- Focus on creating the highest client/customer experience as long as it's not crossing any of your boundaries or draining you. Walk through your client's journey from intro to working with you and after - to see how it feels. So many people skip this feeling and empathize with their client's experiences. Client satisfaction and delight are big for keeping your business growing and sustained.
