Let’s Get You Meditating - Jewelia Orlick Meditation

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jewelia Orlick, owner of Jewelia Orlick Meditation, located in Chelsea, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a certified meditation teacher! My clients are typically women in their 20s and 30s who aspire to meditate regularly as a way to lower their stress levels and enhance wellness. My main goal is to make meditation feel effortless and doable. It really is possible, and the positive effect of creating a little bit of internal space is tenfold.

Tell us about yourself

As a teenager, I was always interested in meditation and yoga. Practicing both regularly is a compliment to my, then, competitive sports background. Meditation stole my heart pretty quickly. Having witnessed Alzheimer's in my family, my brain health was important to me. I also had such a passion for branding, so the two really blended beautifully. I love getting to create a calm online meditation oasis for people to come to. I’m inspired by nature and by those who share their stories of meditation with me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, I think my biggest accomplishment has been just starting. Overthinking and perfectionism are very real things that can paralyze the mind. Starting and continuing to share my work through various phases of my life. That’s what I’m most proud of.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The uncertainty of it all. You never know what projects will take off and what ideas will lie idle. Maintaining deep trust is definitely something that I’ve had to consciously practice. I’ve also had to learn how to be consistent with very few results. I think everyone who is just starting out feels that way at some point.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Settle in for the long haul, and do it with a sense of adventure.
  2. Have regular practice to help you strengthen your trust. Meditation, mantra, journaling, prayer… Whatever resonates most with you.
  3. Surround yourself with genuinely supportive people you can talk openly with.
