Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jessica Wright, owner, and CEO of Wright Workforce Solutions, located in Florence, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wright Workforce Solutions is a full-service Human Resources and Small Business Consulting firm. WWS provides affordable services to entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small to mid-size businesses. WWS recognizes how important these services are and understands that most companies do not have the funding to hire a full-time human resources employee, especially in the first few years of business.

Tell us about yourself

I started this business to ensure that all businesses had access to vital services such as new employee handbooks, onboarding processes, strategic planning, attendance policy creation, and so much more. I truly believe that small and locally owned businesses are vital to a thriving community. I am continually motivated by all my clients who continue to work in their passion and chase their dreams. I get so excited when my company is able to assist these businesses and remove some of the challenges or barriers to their success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Securing nine clients in the first four months of starting my business and being recognized by the Cincinnati Business Courier 40 under 40 as well as nominated as the Cincy Chic 2023 Solo Entrepreneur of the year during my first year of business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Helping potential customers to see the value of investing in their business proactively before they were in a bind and unsure of how to solve the challenges I could have solved for them or helped them avoid.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you are currently running a business, especially in the first year, do not give up. Keep going.
  2. In order to grow your business, you must invest in your business.
  3. If you are looking to start a business, do not compare your business to any other. Focus on being the best at what you are going to do.
