Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in career development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jeremiah Griffin, Head of Sales at The Sales Rebellion, located in Evans, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is coaching salespeople to win by disrupting the ineffective status quo processes and methods that most salespeople have fallen into or been trained to perform over the last five decades.

Our customers range from VPs and Head of Sales to sales directors/managers and individual contributors (AE's and SDR/BDRs).

Tell us about yourself

I started as a student with The Sales Rebellion. My results skyrocketed (from 70% of quota to over 300%), and I got a ton more enjoyment from the work with my Rebel coach. After I continued coaching for almost two years and my results kept getting better, I was offered a Head of Sales role at the Rebellion. I love helping Rebels achieve sales results they've never achieved before, but most importantly, to hear how the coaching has changed their lives for the better in all facets of their life, not just in the workplace and the sales leaderboard.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment continues to be the daily wins our students see, getting a meeting with a $4B company that nobody on their team has ever been able to get. Closing deals that net 6-figure paychecks, repairing their relationship with a colleague or at home with a significant other, learning to understand themselves better and avoid burnout, having fun while they win, setting the most monthly meetings in company history, helping a team achieve 80% YOY growth...and on and on.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Managing emotions and relationships. The most important thing in a business will always be people. There are many people to serve, and they aren't just clients. We should seek to serve our team, vendors, and anyone we come into contact with because our lives will never be measured by how much money we make but by how many people we positively impact along the way.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know yourself and have the right expectations - Have a great understanding of your capabilities and what to reasonably expect from yourself and the others in your employ.
  2. Don't get too high or too low - Business presents tons of challenges and is a rollercoaster, taking people's emotions on that rollercoaster often. Remember that the worst-case scenario rarely happens (at least you didn't die!), and keep everything in the proper perspective.
  3. Seek to serve - I've mentioned this already, but it bears repeating. If you want sustained growth in a business and in life, you must always be asking the question, 'how can I best serve others?' If you can do that effectively, you will never be without someone to call for help when needed, you will never be without people willing to do business with you, and you will leave a lasting legacy on your career and your life.
