Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Nwankwo, co-founder, and CEO of Nuvo Physio, located in Montreal, QC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a physiotherapy clinic that provides allied healthcare services that women so desperately need during pregnancy and thereafter to restore the postpartum body so that it can function in the best capacity possible.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a women's health physiotherapist filling the gap in pre and postnatal care. Through my work, I have been privy to the emotional roller coaster of childbirth within a highly medicalized and often challenging healthcare system which has compelled me to bring about a paradigm shift in pre and postnatal care.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Thriving as a black female entrepreneur with the freedom and power to instill change within the healthcare system and progressive roles in my profession.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The time committed to the business can put a damper on personal quality time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Write a business plan to conceptualize your idea.
- Know your business! Don't own an animal farm if you don't know how to milk a cow.
- Acquire or possess some financial acumen to know how to utilize money effectively and wisely.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It's hard work, but someone's gotta do it, and I'm glad that someone is me.
