Your One-stop Shop for All Things Digital - Jennifer Hanshew

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Hanshew, owner of WSI Digital Marketing, located in Fishers, IN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a digital marketing company. I provide online or digital support to small to mid-size companies that do not have the time to manage their digital presence. My potential client is anyone who needs support for their website or help getting found online. I excel in web design and development, Search Engine Optimization, Google and Social Ads, Reputation Management, and Social Media Management and Marketing. We are a one-stop shop for all things digital.

Tell us about yourself

I have been involved in marketing for most of my career. I love crafting a message and finding the right avenue to deliver that message. It started with print advertising and billboards in the early 2000s and morphed into digital as the natural progression of marketing has led us here. I also love to help small businesses succeed. There is no better reward or motivation than being a small part of someone's success story.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being effective for my clients by meeting and exceeding their expectations. This has allowed me to grow my referral business which has allowed me to keep my marketing initiatives at a manageable level.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Juggling and learning all of the different aspects of the business. I am the sales and marketing team, accountant, and payroll specialist.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top three tips would be to do a lot of research in the area you would like to start a business and ask a lot of questions. Use the resources that exist for new businesses like SCORE. They can offer you valuable information. Make sure you have a plan in place to tackle the business aspects that you are not as knowledgeable about. Being great at your craft is important, but so is knowing how to invoice for your product and/or services too.
