Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in Coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Coken, CEO of Embrace the Ridiculousness of Life LLC, located in Annapolis, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Recognized by ABC, MSNBC, and TEDx, I'm an internationally acclaimed comedian, coach, speaker, and Imposter Syndrome, expert. I've coached nearly 10,000 leaders in the last 30 years in both the public and private sectors. I'm the no b.s. coach for irreverent, mission-driven women executives in STEAM who crave the audacity to be themselves, want to own the agency of their position and have confidence in the direction they are headed. Fortune 1000 CEOs to seven-figure Founders trust me to shake things up with no apologies, no limits, and all the laughs.

Tell us about yourself

My vision is a world of people at home with themselves — that means showing up authentically everywhere in life instead of trying to fit in, please others, etc. I spent much of my life trying to do that and failed miserably. Now that I own who I am, I guide others to do the same.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Listening to my inner knowing instead of asking everyone else what they think. I spent many years doing that to the point that I didn't know my own voice. When I am able to be still and take time to contemplate, I can tap into my intuition and trust myself. When I trust myself, business is easy, and I am in flow

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Staying in your own genius and delegating to others (if you can). If you are a solopreneur, learn how to stay in your genius, get things done, and not burn out.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take time to get to know yourself and what lights you up instead of trying to be like everyone else.
  2. What other people think about you is none of your business. What do you think about you? Make it your business.
  3. You can't please everyone (aka market to everyone) because you are not a jar of Nutella.
