What's your business, and who are your customers?
Jedyny Design sells handmade stone and glass beaded bracelets, sweatshirts, satin reversible sleep bonnets, gold necklaces, and gold earrings to anyone who likes a unique take on modern fashion. We target consumers with a wide range - from those looking for unique gifts for their spouse, family, or friends to a younger population. All our products are modern and African-inspired, we make everything we sell, and they are original and carry a positive message.
Our products are not only fashionable but also greatly functional to either tell a story or promote healthy hair and body. Jedyny Design stands for uniqueness, being one of a kind, and being consistently true to yourself. We are black and woman-owned.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business as a hobby at university, and I saw that it was therapeutic for me and brought happiness to those I made pieces for. I used that as an opportunity to spread my message of uniqueness through all my products, and it grew into what it is today. My motivation to continue Jedyny Design comes from my customers and the new people I meet when making custom orders. I enjoy creating unique products that promote self-love and inner beauty.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to push through, improve and thrive day by day in a saturated industry.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Advertising is one of the hardest parts of running a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't wait to learn everything before you start. Learn the fast basics, get up and just start, or you'll continue to make excuses.
- Be consistent and disciplined.
- Learn how to do many simple things yourself, such as website building and some photography, because that will save you money.
