Practices for Health and Happiness - Jeanette Sealy
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jeanette Sealy, founder of Jeanette Sealy Yoga Therapy, located in Point Pleasant, NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a Yoga Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist, Ayurvedic Practitioner, earth tender, and Mother to 4 incredible teachers. Described as "a natural healer with an intuitive practice," I have spent years discovering how to heal the schisms between the mind, body, and spirit and am on a lifelong journey to perfect this art.
My philosophy begins with the belief that the body and breath are intimately connected with the mind and that the ancient art of Yoga enhances well-being on every level. I've had the privilege of assisting thousands to enhance their quality of life through a person-centered approach that addresses their unique physical, psycho-emotional, and spiritual needs. I offer a synergistic blend of ancient and modern modalities, including Yoga Therapy, Ayurveda, Thai Massage, Acupoint Therapy, Anatomy, Neuroscience, Physiology, and Biomechanics, with a strong focus on healthy aging, injury, illness, and trauma recovery.
I support women, healers, leaders, and families on their journey to health and harmony. I offer retreats, workshops, mentorship, virtual courses, and couples and individual sessions.
Tell us about yourself
I began practicing Yoga in 1993 and immediately knew it would be a lifelong practice of learning, study, and contemplation. It offered a means for peacefulness that I hadn't known until that point. Coming from a very difficult childhood, I was always a seeker of ways to relieve suffering and find peace. Through the practice of Yoga, I found this sense of peace and stillness that I had never known before. The physical practice of Yoga helped me to ground and center, while the deeper philosophical teachings offered a way to make sense of the world and my place in it.
As I delved deeper into her practice, I began to study and contemplate the teachings of Yoga more deeply. I attended workshops, retreats, and training, and eventually became a certified Yoga Therapist. I found that teaching Yoga was not only a way to share the benefits of the practice with others but also a way to deepen my own understanding and connection to the practice.
Through my journey with Yoga, I learned that healing is a lifelong process and that there is always more to learn and explore. I also discovered that the practice of Yoga is not just about physical postures but about cultivating awareness, compassion, and self-acceptance. Yoga is a practice of union, self-study, and skill in action. It is a lifelong practice that continually uplifts and supports my soul's journey. My own struggles with trauma and suffering gave me a unique perspective and empathy for others who were also seeking healing and wholeness.
Today, I continue to teach and practice Yoga, sharing the wisdom and benefits of the practice with others. I remain grateful for the transformative power of Yoga and for the opportunities it has offered to heal and grow, both personally and professionally.
