Success in Your Professional and Personal Life - Jamie Dawn

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jamie Dawn, Owner of JDI Enterprises LLC., located in Reno, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an ICF Certified Leadership Coach and Astrologer. Have a wide range of clients all over the world. I provide a safe and confidential environment for my clients to workshop any topic for their own evolution and self-awareness. I believe that the more self-aware we are, the better human we can be and find success in whatever role we choose to play. My clients come to me because they trust me, feel seen and heard, and walk away with practical tools they can implement over time.

Tell us about yourself

My journey in life took me through many twists and turns. I became a mother at a young age and was forced to roll up my sleeves and work hard. Through my hard work, I was given many opportunities in the corporate world to rise up in leadership. I discovered that what I loved most was being a servant-leader to others. After encouragement from co-workers and loved ones, I decided it was time to hang out my shingle so that I could reach more people. I love supporting others in their growth and development journey. Watching them rise to the next level and co-create the life they consider to be successful for them gets me out of bed every day. I was and still am determined to live life as the grand experiment I believe it to be. I keep adding new ideas, meeting new people, and staying open to new experiences to see what ingredients might just work for me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I attribute my greatest accomplishment as a business owner to the satisfaction of my clients and my team members and the longevity of my business. If my clients are cared for and happy, then I am happy. If my team members are thriving, then I am happy. I truly love working with others and being the light in the darkness for them or that one neutral party who will speak the truth in a kind and compassionate way. I also loved having a radio show and have now turned that into a YouTube channel. I also have a podcast with my daughter, who is one of my best friends. I would say that being a mom is by far my best accomplishment. Being a parent...now that is a serious business to feel accomplished.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me as a business owner is that I love what I do. So much so that finding the right harmony between working and playing has been a longtime practice. Fortunately, I have finally found that sweet spot and am able to have that harmony so many talks about. Of course, being in your own business means you have to hustle a lot and stay creative and agile. When you hit those "dead zone" moments, that can also get discouraging. However, when these show up, I have learned to take them as a sign that I need to step back for a bit and allow the space to open up in its own natural timing. Before, I would get exhausted trying to force myself to make something happen. Now, I trust in perfect timing. As it has been said, "We may not get what we want, but we do get what we need."

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

There are the practical pieces, of course. Get a good infrastructure in place, get your vision, mission, and values lined up, etc. However, before you do any of that... Know yourself first. Otherwise, you will be like a rudderless ship lost at sea. Eventually, whatever business you start will lose its good flavor. Get back to yourself first. Who are you in your true nature? Then find that unique expression of you that fuels you and gets you out of bed in the morning and figure out a way to let that be of service to others. Know your worth is not dependent on another. You are here for a purpose. All that we do for a living are roles we play. It isn't who we are at our core. So be bold, be brave, and be uniquely you. Only you can live your life.
