Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in content creation but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jason Pyne, Youtube Content Creator, located in Chicago, IL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My main business is my YouTube channel, where I share a mix of motivational and fitness content. My ideal customer is someone who wants to learn while also finding inspiration to push themselves to try something new.
Tell us about yourself
I had a bunch of health issues growing up. I overcame them all, and not being physically sick and being appreciative is something that drives me. Sadly, I didn't feel this way when I first started my career. My attitude was very negative, despite several accomplishments to be proud of. For anyone reading, I don't think this is a healthy mindset to have if you want to be successful. You have to be humble and be willing to be patient if you're growing something, whether it be a company or otherwise.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Reaching 1,000 subscribers on YouTube was a big accomplishment! It was quite difficult, but I did it.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The commitment to start and to put in the work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Entrepreneurship is a high-risk, high-reward career path, and you have to be very calculative in your decisions. Most people, myself included, work full-time while building a company because start-up owners can go months without being paid for their business. So, in short, here are the three things:
- Be patient and committed.
- Be willing to work full-time while starting your business.
- Be as decisive and calculative in your decisions as you can while also not overanalyzing.
