Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jasmin Terrany, Founder of Jasmin Balance Inc., located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I work with the world’s most successful people, and I help them be as successful in their personal lives as they are professionally. What this means is that when they work with me, they learn to actually feel fulfilled in their relationships, unleash their ideal body and embody peace instead of stress and anxiety.

Tell us about yourself

I consider myself a “recovering perfectionist do-gooder.” I’ve always been a high achiever and come from a loving home, and my life has always appeared pretty perfect on the outside. But unknowingly, I put a lot of pressure on myself to be happy and grateful. When I didn’t always feel that way, the pressure created stress, anxiety, guilt, and shame, which initiated a dysfunctional relationship with food and body image. I would restrict my food intake, binge, and over-exercise.

It was then, about 20 years ago, that I decided to get to the root of the issue and solve it for myself, which led me to get two master’s degrees from Columbia University in psychological counseling and start my journey to solve this and countless personal-life issues for other high achievers like myself.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that I’ve actually done what I teach my clients to do - create a fulfilling and balanced life! I enjoy my moments - have a healthy body and fulfilling relationships while I make money and make a difference. After 16+ years of building my practice, I now only take on 10 individual clients a year for $100K/year per person.

For example, my typical day looks like this:

  • 5 am - meditation group
  • 6 am - I wake up my kids at 6 am, and the housekeeper comes to prep their breakfast and school lunches so I can chill and enjoy my mornings with them and my hubby. We do a 5-minute meditation and 2 minutes of jumping jacks and plank before breakfast. We listen to music and chat and hang out together
  • 7:15 am - drop them off at the bus
  • 8 am - hot yoga
  • 10 am - me time
  • 11 am-3 pm - virtual sessions with clients
  • 4 pm - phone goes on silent - get kids - spend the afternoon with them
  • 6 pm - family time/dinner
  • 8 pm - kids in bed and time for me and my love

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it is working “on” the business - because I always prefer to work “in” the business. My passion is spending time and energy with my individual clients, and I find it less satisfying to work on marketing, sales, social media, etc.

Recently I’ve created a life-changing free masterclass: “Unleash Your Ideal Body Through Conscious Eating.” This has been a great way to provide tremendous value while giving women a chance to get to know me and my services.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do amazing work.
  2. Provide tremendous value.
  3. Have high integrity.
  4. Build trust.
  5. Get referrals!
