What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a luxury hair extension salon located in the heart of Lafayette, Louisiana. Our guests are women between the ages of 29 -65 who value the way their hair makes them feel. These are mommas and businesswomen who prioritize self-care.

Tell us about yourself

I knew I wanted to be a beauty professional since high school. I enjoyed all of how changing hairstyles and creating different looks with makeup created the opportunity to change the way you felt. After working in the industry for 16 years, I got tired of the gossipy, full-of-drama hair salon environment. It became my mission to change the salon atmosphere to a place where you could come just as you are and experience love, acceptance, and joy!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Learning to trust my own voice and the dream inside of my heart has been one of my biggest accomplishments while being a business owner.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner has been setting clear boundaries and, more importantly, sticking to them when it comes to how much time I spend in and on my business. Allowing work time to bleed into my family time is never a good thing for anyone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Feedback is neutral. Feedback creates an opportunity to grow and learn.
  2. Trust your vision. God gave it to you to cultivate. No one else.
  3. Set healthy boundaries on your time. There will ALWAYS be something to take care of. Time is the most precious resource you never get back.
