Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jamie Yacksyzn, a wedding and elopement photographer based in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a wedding photography business as well as an all-inclusive elopement company based out of Las Vegas. My customers are engaged couples with a little edge.

Tell us about yourself

I have loved photography since I was a child, but not until my own wedding did it all click, and I fell in love with both. I knew pretty quickly that wedding photography was what I wanted to do. After over ten years in the industry, I realized I could also help couples plan their elopements. I am reminded of why I do what I do every time I see a happy couple who loves each other and loves their photos.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to scale to a new business, hire other photographers, and help out other vendors.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Balancing time with work and family and self-care.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Start preparing to scale bigger from the start. To have more time for your personal endeavors, you need to be able to outsource and scale your business at some point. Also, start now. Don't wait. Even little things, like just getting your website up, will help in the long run.
