What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business helps voice actors, podcasters, YouTubers, and all other types of content creators learn how to capture the most professional-sounding audio possible. Out of the many services that I offer, one of the most crucial ones is a home studio setup. There's a lot that goes into setting up and acoustically treating your home studio, and it's actually 70% - 80% of what makes up capturing professional-sounding audio.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a musician most of my life, learning the drums at 5 and then the guitar at 12. So most of my time growing up, I was playing, writing, and recording music. After a few years of playing live shows for a living, I began pursuing an acting career which evolved into a voice acting career. I quickly found that there was a dire need for audio/home studio professionals in this industry, and that has now grown into what I'm doing today. What keeps me motivated day to day is seeing my fellow voice actors and content creators find success doing what they love. A big part of finding that success is having professional audio, and getting to help others achieve that is amazing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, just continuing to grow every single day. Being able to help people, do what I love, and make a living all at the same time is my biggest accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
This is probably a very typical answer, but for me, it's all of the paperwork, taxes, and tedious things of that nature that come with owning your own business. One thing I could add here is just getting my message out there. Most people don't even think about their audio or how much of an impact it can make on their success. Content Creators usually think about how the video looks and totally neglect the audio and don't realize that they could likely be getting so much more traction if they would just improve their audio. People will forgive bad videos much quicker than they will bad audio.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be highly organized. This is something I'm trying to get better at every single day. Whether it's your taxes, business plan, income, goals, clients, or anything else, you must stay organized. It will save you a ton of time and stress.
