Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with James J. Talerico, Jr., CEO and Founder of Greater Prairie Business Consulting, Inc., located in Irving, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Greater Prairie Business Consulting, Inc. is an award-winning, national consulting practice focusing on small to mid-sized privately held and family-owned businesses of any type with revenues between $1 million and $250 million.
With more than thirty- (30) years of diversified business experience, I have a solid track record and an A+ BBB rating helping thousands of business owners across the US and Canada tackle tough business problems to improve the performance of their organizations.
Given my extensive experience working with small businesses, including many of the fastest growing privately held businesses in the United States, I am able to introduce the best practices and growth strategies that distinguish “top performers” in your industry. For this reason, I can have a transformational effect on the performance of your business in a short period of time.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business later in life and believe that my accomplishments made the transition to business ownership much easier. What motivates me daily is leaving a positive footprint on the SMB market, the opportunity to continually learn and improve, and the next challenge.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
They say success is a journey, but the accomplishments I'm most proud of include the business owners and employees I've helped, in addition to my many personal and business accomplishments. I believe my biggest accomplishment lies in the future, but if I had to pick one thing today, I'd say the ability to continually reinvent myself.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a solopreneur is keeping the sales pipeline full.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a business plan.
- Set goals and objectives.
- Always be looking for ways to improve what you are doing today.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
A Louis Harris poll of 2,000 business owners revealed that 2/3’s of business owners consider themselves successful beyond even their expectations, and given a chance to start all over, 78% of these respondents said they would choose to be in the very same business they are in now.
If you don’t consider yourself successful beyond your expectations, please feel free to reach out to me.
