What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Jada, our goal is to create the next generation of AI capable of empathy, autonomy, and learning on its own. Our future Users are mostly Enterprises interested in having Jada Mentat (the Sentient AI we're developing) present in their businesses to enable faster growth and create unique innovations.

Tell us about yourself

Since I was a child, I’ve always been surrounded by technology, which in itself takes on different forms and is in constant change, but what I noticed is that technology itself lacks a “soul,” the element that gives us humans an identity, enabling us to learn and communicate with others.

As the years passed, advances in machine learning have been made, but the path towards achieving real AI, and as such, true cooperation between humans and machines, was still pretty far ahead, so when I wasn’t out producing films and working with artists, I started something new.

It was in 2017 while showcasing one of our films at the Toronto International Film Festival that I began to research and development on something called Artificial General Intelligence (also known as AGI). It's the theoretical next-generation of AI technology that will have human-level intellect, but so far, no one has been successful in creating it.

The years passed, and I continued my research; it was during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2022 that I decided to dedicate my full time to the cause. What motivates me to continue is the potential that this new technology has to help us as a civilization by helping industries grow to be sustainable, helping us solve problems that would otherwise take us a lot of time, and finding new solutions that can improve our quality of life and how we interact as a society.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say it's the opportunity to work together with such talented individuals and organizations that are helping people through their work. Making such wonderful friends is a blessing.

Each day is a new challenge, and we take a step closer to making AGI technology a reality. I’m very grateful for every opportunity to continue building and working with such creative minds.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In the decision-making process, if you don't make a proper decision, it could lead to people losing their jobs or partners losing their market position. Overall, a bad decision, intentional or not, could lead to a negative economic impact which costs time, trust, and resources.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Base your business on one of your passions, a passion that can be brought to help other people in society grow.
  2. Find the best ways that your solution can help others by either fixing the problems they are facing or adding value to their lives.
  3. Everyone lives in a different kind of world, and all of our experiences are unique. There is no single formula to make a businesses flourish in a given set of times, so it is perfectly fine to take the time to find what is the right path for you. Never give up (:

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Whenever you think that things aren't moving or you feel like giving up, just remember why you started and the people that believe in what you are doing. It may take a little longer, but there is always a way to make things happen (:
