What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a music producer and develop music projects to serve listeners as a way to awaken and evolve through music.

Tell us about yourself

I've played musical instruments for as long as I remember. When I was in high school, I listened to another kid play "Sunday bloody Sunday" by U2 on drums, and that immediately opened a new realm of possibilities in my musical vocabulary. It led me to become an accomplished drummer, performing regularly in Mexico City, and eventually to study Music Production and Engineering, where I graduated with Honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was fortunate to work on several projects that charted as billboard best-sellers back when CDs were still around, and people purchased them. I've also been blessed to create a brand of music for relaxation, Musical Spa (musicalspa.com), which has had over 30,000 albums sold, 170,000 downloads, and more than 95 million streams to date.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I am rewarded every day because I can make my own schedule as a business owner, and it has allowed me to homeschool 3 girls while handling my businesses at the same time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Learn to delegate, as you won't be able to do everything on your own.
  2. Work on your vision of where you want to go. Unless you know where you're going and you set things in motion, you'll never get there.
  3. Focus on serving others. It is in the service of others where you'll receive the most rewards.
