Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Armagost, Owner of ISLife, located in Burnsville, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is ISLife, and our customers are people who want to better their lives without judgment. We show that every size can live a healthy lifestyle.

Tell us about yourself

I first became attracted to health and wellness when I took my first yoga class. I had been suffering from a hyperactive thyroid which caused me to lose a lot of hair and have extreme joint and bone pain. In my yoga class, I felt accepted as a beginner and wanted to give the same feeling to others. It doesn't matter how far you've come, how talented or skilled you are. All that matters is that you are willing to try.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been helping other people my age realize their ability to grow and expand. I have been the director of ISLife since I was 21, and I want other young people to realize they can do the same. I am also proud of being offered a spot on British Vogue 3 months in a row.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is the hiring/firing process. It's never easy telling someone that another person has been accepted for the position and even harder to let someone go. I just remind myself that if someone does not fit the position, they most likely aren't happy there and would be happier elsewhere.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The number one tip I can give sounds cliché but "fake it till you make it." You may feel intimidated to present in a meeting or share your ideas. Fake it till you make it. Everyone has been in the same position. Two other tips are don't be afraid to ask questions ad don't be afraid to admit when you have done something wrong- there is always room for growth and improvement.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time to plant a tree is now. Time will keep going with or without you. Take the chance now.
