Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in career development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Isimemen Aladejobi, Founder of Isimemen, located in Washington, DC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a career development & business consultancy for women of color eager to elevate themselves, uncover their life's purpose, multiply their income, and experience fulfilled lives. Fulfilled, our flagship and transformational career coaching program, is for the woman who wants to land her dream job, skyrocket her income, and live a rich, fulfilling life.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Isimemen "Isi" Aladejobi. I'm a Transformational Career & Business Growth Strategist passionate about shifting the narrative in people's personal lives - particularly women of color who feel unseen, unheard, undervalued, and underrepresented in their careers. I seek to push women to refocus their mindsets on the core details and what truly matters to live out their destinies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a business that has helped women earn over 4 million dollars is a huge accomplishment for my team and me. Fulfilled has helped hundreds of women uncover their purpose and live fulfilling lives, and we take pride in that. When a client tells us they went from making $70k to $250k or from being unemployed to making $74k in just 8 weeks of being in Fulfilled, we become truly motivated to continue what we do and make it even better.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things in being a business owner is consistency. Being a business owner requires managing a lot of moving pieces which requires you to be consistent. This doesn't necessarily mean always having the same level of energy, drive, and enthusiasm as I think that's humanly impossible, or refusing to pivot and change when needed, but being consistent in terms of knowing your "why" and the purpose of what you're doing. This will be a huge game changer during times when you feel discouraged.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a coach.
  2. Aim for progress, not perfection.
  3. Be consistent.
